HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS AND THE SHRINKING OF CIVIC SPACES

This is our first CUNY Human Rights Hub event. Our panel discussion critically examines some of the key challenges facing civil society organizations and human rights defenders in an era of shrinking civic spaces and explore ways to strengthen their capacity to address such challenges.

Our panelists are: Brian Dooley, Senior Advisor at Human Rights First; Nikhil Dutta, Legal Advisor on Global Programs at the International Center for Non-for-Profit Law; Cristina Palabay, Karapatan Alliance in the Philippines; Philippe Le Billon, Professor at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia.
